Corpus Christi
Saturday newsletter #36
Hey friend!
The curtains are drawn. The windows are shut by midday and the AC is turned on. Yep, it’s finally hot here in Indiana. Praise God for a mild spring! I’m adjusting our daily schedules to include earlier walks and trips to our neighborhood park and more time playing in the afternoon shade or inside reading stories — oh, and watching “Little Bear,” of course (Linus’ favorite).
To be honest, beyond our daily activities, I’ve had barely enough mental space to think of anything outside of preparing for our summer baby. I’m still hoping to keep publishing articles through the end of this month, but we shall see what happens.
And once again, I’m grateful for the rhythm of the liturgical calendar. It’s one less thing I have to plan myself; it simply shows up for me. This weekend, I get to help sing for a new priest’s first Mass (he’s a son of the parish), which also happens to be Corpus Christi, the solemnity of the Eucharist. How fitting and beautiful! And amid the busyness of life, I’m happy to have this feast in order to slow down for a moment and focus on the One who gives me strength in all seasons. I hope it offers the same for you.
Please take the time to say a quick prayer for our prayer request listed below (all the way at the bottom). And if you have a prayer request of your own, simply click the link and add it to the form.
God bless, and as always, Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam (“For the greater glory of God”).

The gift of the Sacred Heart Enthronement
Just shy of six years into marriage, my husband and I bought our first house and moved for the fifth time. We weren’t expecting to buy a house when we did; it all came about unexpectedly and by rather painful necessity. The phone call letting us know that our offer (quite a bit lower than the competing offer) had been accepted came as my husband and I w…
What struck me this week:
In your struggles and crosses, we are invited to fix our gaze on Jesus, whether we find healing of body and spirit or not.
Do you struggle to believe that your body is good? Florencia Moynihan, founder of The Catholic Nutritionist, has published a book to to encourage all women who are seeking to live health and wholeness as daughters of God.
I really enjoyed this article. Whether it’s a toddler or that difficult person at work, we need to know how to enjoy the challenging people in our lives.
How can we find repentance and forgiveness in a pornified age? This article provided a balanced understanding of the issue.

“Behold the bread of angels, sent
For pilgrims in their banishment,
The bread for God’s true children meant,
That may not unto dogs be given:
Oft in the olden types foreshowed;
In Isaac on the altar bowed,
And in the ancient paschal food,
And in the manna sent from heaven.”

This week’s prayer request: “I was recently reunited with my adopted son after 43 years. Pray for God to make this relationship what he intends it to be for both of us! God is good!”
